PAVLOV
Location
The viticultural village Pavlov lies on the east foothill of Děvín about 10 kilometres north from Mikulov in the protected landscape area of Pálava.
History
The village Pavlov belonging to the castle Děvičky since the 13th century is even older. From 1334 it belonged to the Mikulov manor property and in the 15th century it became the largest viticultural village in the Mikulov area. The territory of Pavlov is rich in archeological findings proving settlements since the times of mammoth hunters. Regarding these abound findings the civilization of the younger stone age mammoth hunters is called pavlovien.
Relics
St.Barbora church built in 1578 is a significant building in the village. The church which has gone through several reconstructions is standing in place of an older church documented already in the 12th century. Most of the buildings standing in the village green have been adapted to a peasant baroque style. Further significant localities in the village are Česká street with its baroque wine cellars and a baroque cemetary with corner turrets in the wall. The village is protected as a listed reserve.
Nature
Pavlov lies at the foot of the highest hill of Pálava – Děvín which is a protected national sanctuary. Another interesting natural site, a small gravel-pit in the vineyard, is a valuable geological and paleontological location.

Pavlov is a favourit basis for getting to know the beauties of Pálava. There is a yacht club below the village greatly appreciated by those who fancy sailing.
