MARTINKA
Martinka, an 80 m high north cliff falling vertically and also partly
overhanging, is Pálava´s dominant situated directly above Horní Věstonice .
Remnants of the castle Nový hrad (Neuhaus) can be found on the top of the
cliff.
On the north side adjacent to Martinka lies Obří kámen (Giant stone) , a
forward cliff tower linked with the wall of Martinka by an impact block
called Špunt (a stopper). Climbing Martinka is sought for by advanced
mountaineers.
The very top parts of the Pálava hills are atractive for exercising
paragliding, however, due to the status of a protected landscape area this
activity is not welcome.
